Methodology

The Site Speed Awards recognize news websites that deliver exceptional user experiences through superior performance. Rankings are based on real-world data from the Chrome User Experience Report (CrUX).

Scoring is based on three Core Web Vitals:

  • LCP (Largest Contentful Paint) — measures loading performance
  • INP (Interaction to Next Paint) — measures interactivity responsiveness
  • CLS (Cumulative Layout Shift) — measures visual stability

Each metric is normalized on a 0-100 scale relative to the performance of all 50 top news publishers. The final score is the average of these three metrics.

Data Period: Q4 2025 (October - December)

Sample: Top 50 English-language news websites by traffic (Press Gazette)
